Measure Introduced to Increase Data Collection for LGBTQ Community

U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) and Representative Raúl M. Grijalva (D-AZ) have reintroduced the LGBTQ Data Inclusion Act. This bill would require federal surveys to include data collection on sexual orientation and gender identity on a voluntary basis. Lawmakers argue this data is necessary to ensure agencies are adequately meeting the needs of the LGBTQ community.

CARE Act Gains Traction with Support from Medical Experts

The Comprehensive Addiction Resources Emergency Act (CARE Act) was introduced last month to provide additional resources to government groups working to combat opioid addiction and prevent opioid overdoses. In the days leading up to a Committee on Oversight and Reform hearing on the issue, medical experts overwhelmingly chose to endorse the legislation as a possible solution to combatting addiction and addiction related death.

GREAT Act Reintroduced to Standardize Grant Reporting

A bipartisan group of lawmakers has reintroduced legislation that would create a standard reporting system for federal awards, including grants and cooperative agreements. The Grant Reporting Efficiency and Agreements Transparency (GREAT) Act has been introduced by Senators James Lankford (R-OK), Mike Enzi, (R-WY), Gary Peters (D-MI), and Maggie Hassan (D-NH).
