Aid the Next Generation as a Scholarship Selection Volunteer

The FEDforum is brought to you by WAEPA. New Year, New Rates! This year, WAEPA’s rates are even more exclusive than before. Visit WAEPA.org to check out our new rates today.

This FEDforum article is FYB — for your benefit. This week, hear from the Federal Employee Education & Assistance Fund (FEEA).

Since 1986, Federal Employee Education & Assistance Fund (FEEA) has awarded over 11,000 merit scholarships to a diverse group of academically-talented and community-minded college and graduate students.

Annually, nearly 3,000 applicants from across the nation apply for college scholarships funded by FEEA. The 2022 Scholarship Selection Committee will comprise of over 300 volunteers from a variety of backgrounds who review, score, and rank the applications we receive—are you up to the task?

Our committee members come from across the United States and represent a broad set of academic disciplines, professions, and sectors. Each volunteer reviews and scores approximately 30 applications online between early April and mid-May and spend an average of 10 hours completing their reviews. The applications include an essay, community and extracurricular activities, transcript, a letter of reference, and basic information about the applicant. Eligible individuals include children, step-children, and legal dependents of full- or part-time permanent federal civilian or postal workers employed with the federal government for more than three years, as well as the employees themselves and their spouses.

If you are available and would like to join our selection committee this year, please register by February 15, 2022. Contact FEEA’s Senior Program and Operations Manager Niki Gleason if you have any questions!
