Managing Organizations to Sustain Passion for Public Service

The American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) is proud to present a BookTalk with Jim Perry and Rob Seidner looking at keeping your employees passionate: Managing Organizations to Sustain Passion for Public Service. Sponsored by the Los Angeles County Management Council, this discussion is important for government agencies and nonprofits alike.

Taking place this Wednesday, February 24 at 1 p.m. ET, and free to attend, Jim Perry will dive into his new book, Managing Organizations to Sustain Passion for Public Service, provide important take-aways and contextualize them for why they matter for today’s workforce.

During the last three decades, social and behavioral scientists have extensively studied the motivating power of public service. This book illustrates ways in which this recent research provides a foundation for transforming civil service policies, management practices and the motivation of public servants.

The book synthesizes research with implications for recruitment and selection, work design, compensating and rewarding employees, and leading staff. Jim will be joined by Rob Seidner who is involved in designing federal civil service architecture through myriad policy decisions.

Join the authors for an engaging discussion about this topic. Plenty of Q&A time will be provided.

Speakers:

James Perry, Distinguished Professor Emeritus, Paul H. O’Neill School, Indiana University
Rob Seidner, Performance Manager for Federal Human Capital Policy, Executive Office of the President

This webinar is free to all who wish to attend—members and nonmembers alike.
