FEDS Protection Attends FMA’s 84th National Convention

In March, FEDS Protection joined the Federal Managers Association (FMA) for FMA’s 84th Annual National Convention in Alexandria, Virginia. The Convention marked the 14th year of FEDS Protection’s partnership with FMA. After the last few years of virtual events, the Convention was a welcome opportunity for FEDS to re-connect with the FMA membership in person.

At the Convention, FMA delegates were able to hear from an outstanding lineup of speakers, including Kiran Ahuja, Director of the Office of Personnel Management. Tony Vergnetti, FEDS President and Founder, and Sam Swoyer, FEDS Director of Operations and Risk Management, also connected with many FMA regional chapter leaders to discuss learning opportunities for federal managers. We are looking forward to presenting informational webinars about professional liability insurance (PLI) for federal managers to FMA members across the country.

PLI as offered by FEDS is an integral part of any federal manager’s toolkit, especially in an environment which has provided federal managers with unprecedented tests. Todd Wells, FMA Executive Director, said: "In today’s challenging workplace, federal managers confront a wide array of decisions requiring split-second responses in a 'do more with less' environment. The purchase of professional liability coverage, as offered by FEDS, can provide those managers with a safety net should their decisions lead to forms of legal review. I recommend any manager with the potential of such review to secure a policy of this type for their financial protection.”

Since FMA’s last in-person Convention, FEDS has introduced a $3 million civil suit coverage option for federal employees, in addition to our $1 million and $2 million options of civil liability protection for attorney’s fees and indemnity costs in the event you are sued in your civil capacity for actions taken within the scope of your employment. The FEDS policy also includes $200,000 of legal representation coverage per incident for administrative actions and $100,000 of coverage for criminal defense costs arising out of actions taken within the scope of your employment. Annual premiums for FEDS Protection PLI start at $290, which is less than it would typically cost to hire a federal employment lawyer for an hour. Additionally, federal managers are eligible for a reimbursement of up to 50% the cost of their PLI policy through their agency.
