OPM Surveys Agencies on Program & Project Manager Workforce

The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) is working with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and the Program Management Policy Council to collect information from agencies on their program and project management workforce.

OPM Acting Director Margaret Weichert issued the solicitation for government participation in the information collection on October 22, 2018.

The data collection is mandated by the Program Management Improvement and Accountability Act (PMIAA; P.L. 114-264) and is intended to aid OPM in its promulgation of regulations to identify key skills and competencies needed for a program and project manager in an agency and for government career paths.

According to the memo the “study will support OMB’s guidance, “Improving the Management of Federal Programs and Projects through Implementing the Program Management Improvement Accountability Act” (June 25, 2018) and the President’s Management Agenda by informing agency efforts to better track and build the program and project management workforce through increased training opportunities, career pathways, and mentorships.”

Agencies have two more weeks to complete the survey. The survey can be accessed at: https://feedback.opm.gov/Community/se/076F441064F765A0.
