DOL Breaks Down the Gender Pay Gap

In honor of Equal Pay Day, which is held every April to symbolize how far into the year women need to work to make what men did in the previous year, the Women’s Bureau at the Department of Labor has unveiled a new infographic, breaking down the pay gap.

Using data from the Census Bureau and the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the graphic highlights how the gender pay gap has been narrowed, through greater access to education and the ability to participate in the workforce, but also reasons why it has plateaued in recent years – included occupational segregation and unpaid work.
