Feds to Receive 1.3 Percent Pay Raise

Last week, President Obama submitted to Congress his Alternative Pay Plan for federal civilian employees and for the uniformed services.

The President authorized a 1.3 percent boost for both groups, to go into effect after January 1, 2016.

Federal civilian employees will receive a 1.0 percent across-the-board pay increase, with the remaining 0.3 percent coming from increased locality payments.

“The alternative plan for locality payments will be limited so that the total combined cost of the 1.0 percent across-the-board base pay increase and the varying locality pay increases will be 1.3 percent of basic payroll, consistent with the assumption in my 2016 Budget,” wrote the President in his letter to Congress informing leaders of his alternate pay plan.

“These decisions will not materially affect our ability to attract and retain a well-qualified Federal workforce,” the President concluded.
