Excuses, Excuses, Excuses

We get several calls a week from federal agency managers who need legal advice or representation but don’t have FEDS Protection in place. Your agency reimburses all managers and supervisors up to half the cost of this insurance – so please – no more of the following excuses.  FEDS Protection works just like other insurance policies - if you don’t have coverage in place prior to an incident leading to an allegation, claim or suit, coverage will be denied.

  • I really planned on getting the insurance, I just haven’t had time to enroll.

Enrollment takes 5 minutes – you have 5 minutes.  You can call us at 866.955.FEDS (3337) between 8am – 6pm ET and we can enroll you over the phone.  Call from your office, your car, or the lunch line.  You can also enroll online anytime at www.fedsprotection.com

  • It’s too expensive.

Federal managers and supervisors are eligible for agency reimbursement up to half of the cost of this insurance – for a reason. The annual premium for FEDS $1,000,000 policy is $290 – or $145 after reimbursement.  We even offer payroll deduction for as little as $12 per pay period.  Hiring an attorney for one hour will cost you more than double the annual premium.

  • My agency attorney said I didn’t need this insurance – she said the agency would protect me.

The agency attorney represents the agency – not you personally.  It is the priority of the agency attorney to protect the agency.  If the attorney takes a position that is adverse to your own to protect the agency – who’s protecting you? Don’t be naïve.

  • I didn’t think I had to worry about any of my employees.

More and more managers, these days, invoke policy benefits due to employee allegations of whistleblower reprisal.  Good conduct does not prevent managers and supervisors from being accused of wrongdoing.  Harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination and whistleblower reprisal allegations can be very costly.

  • I’ll be fine – I have always received only outstanding ratings.

Former GSA Senior Executive Paul Prouty was accused of wrongdoing as part of a “scandal” after 40 years with the federal government.  He was a GSA regional commissioner and his nightmare started with a GSA IG report.  “I was being accused of things I had not done, by people who knew nothing about me or the situation. Fortunately, I had liability insurance.  After nearly 3 years and over $200,000 worth of legal fees (paid by my FEDS policy), I was vindicated by MSPB – twice.  From the beginning, I knew GSA had no case.  However, the FEDS liability insurance gave me the backing I needed to fight.  I never could have imagined I would have found myself in such a situation.  Like many others, I believed my agency would always have my back.  In fact, they did not.  I was the lucky one.  Many others involved didn’t have FEDS Protection and it limited their options to respond to the accusations made against them.”

No more excuses.  If you have questions, call and talk to us - 866.955.FEDS or visit our website at www.fedsprotection.com. FEDS Founder and President is a former federal attorney and has a reputation for doing right by federal employees.
