Speculation Swirls around Ryan Resignation

According to Congressman Mark Amodei (R-NV), there is a “rumor” that Speaker of the House Paul Ryan might soon announce his resignation. Rep. Amodei made the statement in an interview with a local news station.

When asked by The Hill about the rumor, “Ryan’s office denied that the Speaker is heading for the exit” and “said he and his wife will decide in the spring about whether he will run for reelection.”

Speaker Ryan’s official spokeswoman, AshLee Strong, also denied the rumor in a statement, saying flatly, “The speaker is not resigning.”

Amodei, whom The Hill reports is not widely considered to have a close relationship with Ryan, reportedly “emphasized that he was just repeating a rumor.” The news nonetheless generated enough traffic and interest to reportedly “crash the Nevada Newsmakers website” today.
